I think each person's Reiki practice or experience is unique to them. I would like to share what my Reiki practice is like for me. When I first started to study Reiki, I was very caught up in the mechanics of where should I place my hands and how long I should leave them in one position. I easily became overwhelmed and didn't develop a good self-practice. However, I continued to love experiencing Reiki at the masterful hands of my teacher, Ann Finnie of Footprints Holistic.
I was determined to master Reiki! However, Reiki is not something you master, it is truly an experience. I did continue my Reiki studies with Ann, first Reiki I & II and finally Reiki III ~ Master. Although I do not feel like a Reiki Master, I do feel confident in my Reiki personal practice and my offerings to animals.
My personal Reiki practice is something I strive to do daily. Some days it lasts a few minutes and others I can manage 15 minutes or so. I am no longer concerned with the exact placement of my hands, I am focused on my intent and being completely present for however much time I can give myself. Whenever I practice Reiki, the Reiki precepts seem to become further ingrained in my day to day life. The precepts are:
For Today Only:
For me, as the Reiki precepts continue to permeate my life I feel calmer, daily stresses and troubles that are part of life are easier to navigate. I am less critical of all, especially myself.
If you have never experienced Reiki I would strongly encourage you to try it. I find it to be a combination of relaxation, reflection and rejuvenation.
Wishing all personal Peace, and Peace to all on Earth! Merry Christmas! ~ Joan
